I am looking into getting the 15 gallon Boil Coil in order to bring my BIAB sessions indoors. Making the jump to electric, would I need to add a false bottom to protect the bag during mashing or simply set the bag up in a way to leave space between the element and bag?

I was looking at a steamer baskets as a cheap method of simply keeping something between the element and bag. Any help is appreciated!

I bring the water to strike temp and never add heat after that. Stir in the grain really well, put a lid on and insulate the pot and you won't lose a significant amount of heat.

If you add heat during the mash, you have to separate the element from the bag and you must stir vigorously and constantly to get even heating. I'm not that industrious.

If you do want to run the element during the mash, you will need some sort of stand to keep the bag away from the element. It soesnt need to be fancy, lile a w false bottom, since your bag is keeping your grain corralled.

I'm assuming you plan to recirculate as well?
