I am not sure more money would help get the exams graded any faster unless you were able to pay someone full time to do it. I would guess that 90% of the delays are due to the graders real life getting in the way. Money can't help that.

But, they are investing some money in the online multiple choice exam which should help a lot.

I wouldn't want someone grading my exam who was there for the money anyway.

The BJCP board has already approved an examination change that will solve the scheduling issue.

So they have implemented the new online testing format, and I am hoping it leads to more spots. I just contacted the organizer for the tasting exam being held 10 months from now and was told I will be 12th on the waitlist. There is however, some discussion of adding seats (due to the testing format change). I was told there are seats for the 2013 exam....just a little under 2 years away! phew!

Yeah, that kind of makes the expedient nature of the online portion meaningless.

Yup. I passed the on-line entrance exam and looked for future exam dates. My club is hosting two in the next year, but they already have ~40 folks interested for ~24 spots.

Ya, I haven't started studying or taken the online test yet. I have more than enough time. And I definitely don't want to take the online test and pass and then have to retake it again because I couldn't get a seat within a year

I'm hoping by March 2013, the "12" seats per test is increased.

I have to go to Minneapolis in September for the tasting portion. That's only a 7 hour drive each way for me! :drunk:

But we'll go and make a weekend out of it, since the test is on a Sunday morning. Bob and I will try to visit Surly, and catch up with SeeBeeJohn.

The more people who complete the exams the more people they would potentially have to assist in future exams. At some point there should be enough qualified people to host the exam takers.

It is not the hosting that is holding things up. It is the number of graders. One of the main purposes of the online "written" portion is to make the grading easier and hopefully be able to turn over these exams faster. Once that starts happening and more graders are recruited because it is an easier process, they should start opening more spots and more locations.
