I tried the Tatanka stout the other night thinking it would be a regualar stout and to my surprise, it was VERY sweet. With a name like that and in a "big" micro brewery, I was quite shocked they would have a different type of flavor like that.

Now to my point....it was great beer! Anyone else taste it? Think you could come up with a clone? Very smooth, almost creamy (not nitro, though) and sweet.

I really don't like the beers at BJs, I have tried almost every one and I think they are all lacking something...much like those at Rock Bottom...that and the people that work there are clueless. Last time I was there, asked if they had any beers not on the menu, waitress told me they had two but she had no idea what kind of beers they were.

i actually like a majority of there beers. The Grand Cru is there best one, but I also like the Pirhana Red and the Tatonka stout as well. I was thinking about doing a clone of their millenium ale which was tasty as well

Here in Texas, they don't even brew their own. They contract it out to St. Arnolds in Houston. Their Kolsch style Blonde tastes like Bud pee pee wasser. The Piranha Pale Ale is not bad though.

I'm with you on this one, the only one of their brews I kinda enjoyed was the hefe, and even then, I usually order a Gordon Beirch when I'm there... I go for the food...:D

One of our club members is the head brewer at the BJ's here. Club members can bring a sanitized growler down and get free yeast at any time from the brewery.

I like most of thier beers but the BJ's closest to me does not brew, they blend beer from a few different locations so the beer is not consistant.
