Hi, I'm thinking of going to biab, but have a Blichmann hopblocker that I would like to use, and I don't think I can keep it installed and mash.

My thought was to have two pots, one for the biab mash, and then transfer the wort to the second (with the hopblocker) as the brew pot. I know some people use two pots for sparging, but was wondering if anyone has used a second pot for efficient hop filtering.

You can do whatever you want. That is the great thing about brewing. If it makes beer, it is ok to do.

With that said, I mashed in with my EBIAB and then transferred to my outside pot to boil so I could start another mash at the same time once. I hated it. It takes away from the BIAB. Why BIAB with 2 pots? That is just mashing and boiling like you would in a cooler and kettle.

The hopblocker appears to take up only a small volume near the bulkhead or dip tube. I don't see a reason why you couldn't BIAB mash in a kettle w/ a HB installed?

Thanks for the responses. I'll give it a go with the one pot. Been doing extract up to this point, so I was hoping to hold onto the equipment I'd already invested in.
