So I had a pretty good brew day today, hit the numbers I wanted but could NOT figure out why in the heck my refractometer was doing this.
I continually took readings throughout the brew day without issue and then at the end I snagged a sanitized brew spoon full and left it aside till I aerated & pitched my yeast. My readings previous were all outside readings (50F) and towards the last 5-7min I was getting 15 brix (1.060). I wanted to compare my hydrometer with my refractometer and my hydrometer showed a FG of 1.061. PERFECT! Except somehow when I took that spoon I talked about earlier and used its' sample, my brix were just above 13ish (1.052ish)....
My refractometer has ATC and the final reading was taken inside (not sure if it matters, still new to this refractometer stuff).
Any idea what's going on here?
