So, for 2025 I'm going to cook my way through the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook focusing on desserts. I like baking. I may do some other things but we will see.

This is chicken fried rice (I had a bunch of leftover rice and veggies) with potstickers (store-bought), but the thing on the left if Pot de Creme. That's cream, sugar, and chocolate brought to a boil then simmered, then drizzled into egg yolks till fully incorporated. I forgot the vanilla. I hope BH&G forgives me.

My mother gave me the paperback version when I went to college. The recipes always worked.

Later in life I tried The Joy of Cooking, and I had the opposite experience. It made me realize why no one goes to the Midwest for good food.
