im getting ready to brew to brew my 1st sour. I'm thinking of dedicating my better bottle to the sour cause, i have glass but just thinking of using that better bottle for that yr n half fermentation n permeate sou vessel. any feedback? also sourrookie ?.... i know u want to dedicated sour plastics for sour only, it the same for glass?

Glass is fine to use as it is non porous. Plastic that is porous like your tubing, racking cane, bottling bucket, etc you should keep another set of. Better bottles seem to be fine though. I have had no problems with them so far. I soak in PBW and then sanitize with StarSan.

I use better bottles for my sours. I have also reused them for non-sour beers, though out of caution I tend to only use them for saisons because they are dry and not necessarily harmed by a bit of funk. I keep a few dedicated better bottles for my regular beers.

I started sharing between sour and non-sour, now my BetterBottles are dedicated. Not worth the worries. Otherwise I've really enjoyed the results of long term aging in plastic carboys. We use them for the bigger cultures at Modern Times as well.

You mean yeast starters? Now that's a serious starter :ban:

This is exactly what I do, especially the Saison bit. But I use my Spiedel for my non funky beers.

Each one is a separate culture:

Good to know. Thank you.

Those concerns are why I only own glass secondary vessels. I don't worry about primary.
