Is a 6 gallon Better Bottle going to have enough headspace for a 5 gallon wort, when used as a primary?

It should, but you may want to look into a blowoff tube instead of an airlock during fermentation.

Generally, yes. I believe 6 gallon is the largest they make. I use it with a blowoff tube and have only had krausen come through the tube a couple of times.

My current brew, MW's "Liberty Cream Ale" is sitting in a 6 gallon BB. When I first put it in there, I stuck a blowoff tube in the stopper [took a stopper to the hardware and found the size tubing that would fit tightly]. When the fermentation settled down, I removed the blowoff and put a normal airlock in the stopper. Plenty of "head space" for a five-gallon batch!
