I'm in the processing of planning a new MT build using a standard half barrel keg I have lying around.

My plan is to flip the keg over and cut the bottom so the keggle can be bottom draining. With this setup in place, I don't have the handle holes to worry about, so I'm thinking of getting a lid that can sit on the end rim of the keg.

Anyone have any recommendations on a lid for this application? In a perfect world, I'd prefer stainless and insulated (if that even exists).

Wow... Kind of forgot about this thread and realized in went no where fast. :D

If anyone's interested. This is what I came up with --

I decided to skip the lid for the keg rim and just search out a basic keggle lid.

For going insulated, I figured this would work really well (haven't tried it yet):

If insulation isn't an issue (ex. HERMS), this looks like it might be the way to go:
