I was born 39 years ago today which happens to be the day that The Band said fair well with possibly the greatest gig of all time- the line up of guests was kind of a fantasy concert for the decade. Thankfully Martin Scorsese was there to capture it and "The Last Waltz" was the rockumentary that resulted. If you've never watched it, do. If you have and think there's been a better concert, what was it?

The Last Waltz is probably my favorite concert film, but Talking Heads Stop Making Sense is just freaking awesome! Hard not to jump around when David Byrne puts on that big suit.

I saw the Concert for Bangladesh in 1971. It was the 1st superstar rock and roll charity fundraiser. Great line-up. Leon Russell's "Jumpin' Jack Flash/Youngblood" medley tore down the Garden. Just seeing all that talent on one stage was amazing: George Harrison, Ringo, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Billy Preston et al. I saw the matinee afternoon show.

Don't know about best gig of all time, but best gig I've been to was Jane's Addiction, Pixies, and Primus on Dec 11, 1990 in Portland, OR.

I was 13 during the time of Woodstock. My Brother & his buddy Wouldn't let me go with'em, but they couldn't get on the New York State Throughway, which had already been closed. So they came back, rather than finding a way there.
