I want to buy in bulk obvisouly. Buying 2 oz. bags at LHBS is a rip off.

If you could direct to the most popular place to buy in bulk and best for your bucks.

Thanks.

I order from Yakima Valley Hops - they have really good prices if you get 1 lb. bags. Pellet hops seem to stay good pretty long if you keep them sealed and in the freezer. :mug:

Follow homebrewfinds, they are constantly posting deals. I like nicobrew, but just bought 3 lbs. from label peelers on sale.

One tip, buy a vacuum sealer, I got this one, absolutely love it. It will pay for itself quickly when I am buying hops by the lb. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004ZVJ088/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

One advantage of this vs. the more common sealers is that you don't need textured bags. So, you can easily vacuum and re-seal mylar bags that hops come in. I got 50 bags, mylar, really cheap on Amazon.

Farmhouse is the place that ii use.
Got 2# of a variety of hops last week and average price was $1.56 / oz
$3.39 at my LHBS, so 50% savings.

I also use Farmhouse. I use the seal a meal deal and am purchasing the jar sealer, then I won't have bags sliding all around the freezer and the variety will be easier to see. Do you think 1 lb will fit in a quart jar?

I regularly use quart jars to store pellet hops. 1lb pretty much fits perfectly. Sometimes it might be a little tight, but if you just wait to open the vacuum bag until you need to use some of those hops it works out.

Cheers.

^^^this. I'll also use pint or 1/2 pint jars as I use more hops or if I only buy 4 oz.

You will find other uses for the sealer amd the $10 for the jar lid sealer paid for itself with the first lb. of hops I bought.
