hi again just reading earlier posting wots benefits in using glass carboy and can you purchase in UK?

Yeah you can get them in homebrew shops in the UK for about £25. Most British brewers don't use one however I do for secondary fermentation. Bit risky buying them online 'cause they break.

If you're using a pressure barrel theres no need for one -- just leave it in for a couple of extra weeks. Or if you have an extra barrel you could use it as a secondary before bottling.

I'm not quite sure of the answer you're looking for but...

Glass > plastic

When the Glenwood Inglewood water delivery company switched from glass to plastic, they sold their 5 gallon carboys for $10ea US. I bought 3 and then when I went from the office building to the warehouse to pick them up from a warehouse worker, I offered him $5ea for 4 more without a problem flipping him a $20.

:fro:

My favorite benefit of using a carboy is being able to SEE what is happening in your brew...seeing how clear it is (or not clear), if there is any infection (so far I have not had any).

Cheers.
