Bell's Best Brown has been one of my favorite beers of all time. I saw it in a cooler at a store and bought the whole case to drink in the future. I put them in an unheated room that has not been over 70 degrees since putting them there in mid- to late January. I drank a few about a month or so later and they tasted great as normal, but a couple weeks ago I tried some and they had a metallic smell and flavor.
I took the six packs out of the case box so the condensation could dry, but I filled the case box with empty bottles. Therefore, the beers have been setting out, out of direct sunlight in the cardboard packs. I've smelled skunked lager before and it smells just like a skunk, but I've never smelled a skunked beer that had so much going on with it. Is it skunked or just not fresh any more?
