I'm completely new to home brewing and I'm the kind of person who wants to be as knowledgable as possible on a subject before jumping in. Are there any books/videos that could be a good place to start? Keep in mind, the only thing I know about beer is how to use a bottle opener.

Cheers.

The seminal book has got to be Palmer's "How To Brew." Mr. Bell pointed out above that the first edition is free on howtobrew.com -- but it's totally worth buying the most up to date edition.

However, I would say the most valuable book I've read -- and I've been through dozens in the last few months -- is "Radical Brewing" by Randy Mosher. No other book has been as entertaining, educational and inspiring. Buy "How To Brew" and "Radical Brewing" at the same time, and read them back to back. Trust me.
