I'm making some "prison hooch" as an experiment for my first batch of brew.
Prison hooch consists of adding mashed up fruit, sugar, and water to a bag and leaving it for like a week or so, burping the bag occasionally.
After the week is up, you take a cloth, put it over a container, and carefully pour the liquid and mush onto the cloth so it can act like a strainer. After the liquid is all in the container, and the fruit is left on top, i heard it is possible to save this fruit for future batches, then when ready to be used, toss the fruit into some kind of cloth, such as a clean sock, tie the sock up, then throw the sock full of already fermented fruit in with the new batch which would help it ferment quicker and finish in 3-4 days? Can anyone explain this process to me? I believe it is called a "Kicker" because it kicks off fermentation. I can't really find much information on it but it seems very interesting.
