Been a long time since I've last brewed anything because of money reasons. I plan on brewing a Imperial Pilsner and Ive put the ingredients in beer smith and I'm confused on how to get everything in the green.

The recipe I am following uses the following ingredients (for beersmith I halved the quantities as I am making a 2.5 gallon batch. On here I am putting exactly what the recipe says for 5gallon batch):

2 yeast packs
Grains
1lb destrin malt
1lbs crystal malt
5.5 gallon brewing water

9.9 lbs extra light malt

20-25 AAUs horizon Hops

1tsp Irish moss
1tsp yeast nutrient

6oz Saaz

For beersmith I halved everything but the AAU's for the hops. Anyone got any advice on where I am going wrong?

Don't worry about keeping it in the green. Those parameters are setup based on style guidelines, and you are trying to make an imperial version of a base style so nothing should really match, just the color. Those bars are there to assist in recipe formulation for staying true to style.

Oh yeah, didn't notice that. You should make sure it's setup with your equipment profile correctly and check all the volumes in there

also - if going Imperial, you are going to blow the ABV on a pilsner out of the water with regard to the green band on Beersmith when a classic pilsner is the model the software is looking at.....

You'll need to put in hop quantities to get the IBU out of the red. You'll need to cut those approximately in half. The best way to adjust the hops and grains is to enter the recipe as it is, then let Beersmith scale it to the desired batch size.
