New to the forum, so hey.....I may offend some but really theres an explanation. My father-n-law bought me a beer machine as a gift....ya I know it's like the easy bake oven compared to a real chef...but I'm gathering equipment to brew for REAL, however until then.......My beer (american lager) is flat. I want to bottle it. I have a bag of sugar from a kit that a buddy gave me. Can I just put a bit in each bottle and cap? If so...how much sugar per bottle? It took ten days to "brew"....had it's natural carbonation but when I poured it, it came out flat. I can buy c02 cartridges but they don't seem to give it the"ahhhhh" after taste. In fact, there may be a bit of head, but still taste flat.............Anyways back to my bottling question. My intention is to add some carbonation by bottling to save the beer.......anyone?
 
You can prime each bottle and things will work without difficulty. My first full batch was completed this way until I learn of the great method of bulk priming.

For a 12 oz bottle it's 1/2 tsp of sugar....I think!!! I'm not sure about a 500 ml bottle.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong!!!

I think the priming technique described will work. I haven't bottled yet, but there has been discussion on this at a group I moderate about Beer Machine & Mr. Beer.

There's alot of talk against the Beer Machine. If it weren't for it, I would NEVER have started making beer in the first place. The Beer Machine is very elementary and I got mine on ebay. Because its so easy, I'm slowly able to try techniques, play with alcohol content and flavor, bottling, even boiling the mix (which is not required) and adding my choice of hops and yeast.

Someday I will move on to conventional extract brewing. I'm sorry so many members (and on other forums) talk down the Beer Machine. That's why I promote my group so folks who buy or receive the Beer Machine can maximize use of them. Perhaps they too will move on the regular extract brewing.

There aint nothin wrong with a beer machine or mr. beer. They are probably responsible for more homebrewing then Michael Jackson(the fat white one, not the skinny, wierd, off-white one), Charlie Papazain, and jimmy Carter put together. I think its a great stepping stone, that many so called 'real' homebrewers cut their teeth on...Now using bleach as a sanitizer, THATS something to deride someone for...:ban:
 
WOW!!! This post is a blast from the past. I normally dont post on this forum, just because I have been partial to another and quite frankly, I forgot about this one. I get an email from "HBT Admin" saying my box was full and then I started looking at my short lived profile "posts". This above is one of few and probably my first. At 0430 in the morning, I think I will pass the time and give an update on my homebrewing hobby.....

Thats where it all started alright, The Beer Machine 2000. My father in law pick it up somewhere for me at some trade show, thought I would like it. I had always thought of brewing my own beer and this was definately a stepping stone. Fast forward to date and I can actually say that I have progressed quite a bit since then. I have now been all grain brewing for a couple of years and have a 3 corny kegerator. I usually brew about twice a month, more if I can. I like to keep the 3 kegs full of beer, and at least one on deck ready to keg when there is an available keg, another brew in primary and usually a recipe or 2 on the way or on standby. I am now formulating my own recipes and building water profiles, somewhat. I just thought I would share with all, my homebrew progression........
