BULLDOG STRONG ALE
Brewed in Edinburgh, Scotland
Subtly complex, this strong ale’s sweet, fruit character gains strength as the alcohol (6.3%/vol.) kicks in after several sips. Its creamy-smooth body and foamy, off-white head create an engagingly soft mouthfeel. A restrained, fiery core smolders on the tongue as the alcohol effect accumulates by mid-bottle, then dissipates as the maltiness appears. A slightly smoked aspect reminiscent of Scotch whiskey concludes this delicious ale. Bulldog is definitely a winner.
LAGER LINGO
Strong ales are typically fruity and malty. The Scottish version (aka “wee heavy”
is mildly smoky and maltier than its English counterpart (aka “old ale” or “old English ale”
, which tends to be more bitter and potent.
