I use a 1/2" Bazooka Screen and I noticed that a bit of grain (More than I would like) got into my wort. Didn't think it would be an issue as it would sink to the bottom, but noticed after bottling that I could see grain in the bottles which I would like to stop if possible. I understand some might get through, but would like to try and stop it. Should I be straining the wort when it's going in the kettle? Should I be trying to cover up the bazooka screen with stainless steel mesh? Any help would be great. Thanks

When I had a three tier gravity system, my MT had a short piece of copper pipe on the bottom connected to a standard ball valve and pinched on the end. I would cover the end with a stainless steel scrubbing pad, aka "choreboy" brand. That worked as a very effective filter. Had the same set-up in the BK that prevented loose hops from passing. Very few particulates passed into fermentation. Hope this helps.

I think maybe you should take a look at your milled grain.
imo, you should be able to see grain husks that have been split open, but not pulverized into powder.
This will help act as an additional filtering agent.

Line your mash tun with Swiss Voille (curtain material) and it will stop those grain particles. As a side benefit you can stop worrying about a stuck sparge and mill finer because if your sparge sticks, you just lift up the liner to utilize the large filter area. You'll be close to doing BIAB but still using your tun.

I made a sock to fit over the screen made from a paint strainer bag. Worked like a charm.

Are you vorlaufing before sparging? Once you get a good grain bed and after vorlauf, there shouldn't be grain particles slipping through.

Regardless, you need to make some major changes in your brewing practices, if you have grain in your bottles. That just shouldn't happen. Any grain should settle to the bottom with the yeast cake. Are you using a separate bottling bucket than your primary? Or are you fermenting in your bottling bucket. I'm really having a hard time figuring out how you managed to carry grains from sparge all the way to the bottle.
