I just built a house and now I need a bar. I thought I would use this forum to document my build and show off my ultra newbish construction skills.

Here is the area that I started with.

Thats all I have done now. I will post pics as I go along.

Where are you at in Indiana?

Cant' wait to see some pics of the build!

I live in Goshen.

I have been very busy with other home projects and finally got around to putting some skin on the frame.

Left side will be shelving for glassware and such. The right side will be for wine bottles and stemware.

What are your plans for it? taps? etc? The space looks really good

Yes, I will have taps. You can see the beverage air in the background of one of the pics. I don't want to give any more away, you will just have to wait and see. :D

Update

Here are some pics of the finished paneling.

A shot with the workbench-O-rater.

I used 1/4" solid oak to hide the seams on the back of the bar

Next I will be putting up 1x6 solid oak for some decor and to hide the seams of the oak plywood.

Just finished sanding. I'm getting close!!!

Up next I will be cleaning up and then building the irish coffin box.

Very nice. How dark of a stain are you going to do on the wood?

I went with Varathane red oak stain.

This was taken minutes after I finished staining it. The stain is actually all the same color.

I used painters tape (3M brand) to tape the wall off which ended up not working out too well. The tape took off a lot of the paint and it some spots it took the paper off of the drywall.

Close up of the stain.

Beautiful work! I'm considering building a bar in my family room and this is very helpful and inspirational! Thanks!

Looks great! Where did you get the 1/4 inch oak?

Also, what are you going to use as the bar top? Wood, granite, stainless, copper....copper would be sweet.

I got the 1/4 oak from Lowes and the 1/4" vennered oak plywood from Menards. Oak for the bar top, copper would look sweet but then my hands would smell like pennies.

Test fitting of the wine rack shelving. I will be adding more dividers so that I can store up to 18 bottles.

This is what $40 at a CNC router will get you.

I will be gilding gold leaf into the letters later next week and I will paint the clover green.
