Running out of time to come up with a christmas list and I'm unsure of which pieces of homebrew equipment to get...

1) bayou classic sp1 vs sp10? SP10 says high pressure, but when I check their website both say 20 PSI. Whats the deal here? Only other difference is that the SP10 has the wind screen thing, not sure if it really makes that big of a deal though.

2) Is a 32qt stock pot big enough for 5 - 5.5 gallon full boils? I imagine I'd put about 6.5 gallons in to start and expect to need fermcap - will this be big enough to avoid boil overs or should I go with something closer to 10 gallon? I don't plan on doing anything over 5/5.5 gallon batches any time soon so buying bigger with the future in mind is out of the question for now, I just need to be able to handle 5ish for now.

go bigger on the kettle, you'll be happy you did. I have a 15g megapot from NB that will handle a 10g batch (although boilover drops, can't recall the name atm are good insurance). I have the SP10: no complaints, but i can't speak for the sp1

did you try a music store?

wind makes a BIG deal. i have 100k btu burner and even full-bore the wind through my garage will damn near blow it out. just get some sheet and rivet it to the sides of the stand or use a oil drum cut in 1/2 across the diameter, etc.
a sanke can keep 12 gallons at a serious boil once foam subsides fine. that 8 gal probably would need fermcaps if you want to roll like the high seas!

I would also suggest a slightly larger brewpot if possible. Somewhere closer to 40quarts would be best for a 5 gallon batch. I started with a 30 quart turkey fryer and you have to watch it like a hawk and it limited my sparge additions a tiny bit.

I'm in the middle of looking at propane burners myself. I like the idea of the 32 qt pot for 5 gal batches, but I also am cutting a keggle soon. That being said, does the size and shape of the burner work with a keggle? It says the cooking surface is 14". Does anyone know the dimensions of a 15.5 gal Sanke? Will the rim fit over the burner's edges? Is that OK if it does?
