I just opened up the fermenter to keg the beer and this was waiting for me inside... Ooer, did I grow some beasties? Is it safe to drink?

Through lack of personal experience with infection, but seeing other infections on HBT and the interwebs. I would say yes you are showing signs of infection.

Safe to drink. In all probability. Great to drink... Questionable.

I'm certain that it is an infection... without question. I say throw it out.

Just kidding.

Taste the beer. If it doesn't taste sour or musty, it's probably not infected. Taste the beer.... Just taste it.

Did I say taste it? If I didn't... I need to say taste the beer.

So... did I say taste it?

I kegged it and I've had a few tastes and seems like it's fine. I force carbonated which I'm assuming will kill the nasties, or is that wishful thinking?

As far as I know, force carbing won't kill anything. Keeping it cold will prevent any infections from growing. If it tastes good though, then you are probably fine.

Anaerobic respiration doesn't require oxygen to grow. So bacteria would continue to grow in a carbonated environment if kept at an optimal temperature. If you keep it cold, you should stave off any infection.

Hmm. That's a problem because I don't have any way to cool the keg :/
My fridge and freezer are both too small.

Then I'd say just monitor it. Taste it every once in a while and if it starts to seem like it is getting a sour taste, then try to get it in the fridge as soon as you can.

I decided to open the keg and have a peak inside to see how the infection looks now after three days in the keg. The beer looks completely clean, no sign of any infection whatsoever. Could this mean that it did die after all? Maybe due to the pressure or something? Anyway, after my quick peak I've once again force carbonated it and hopefully there'll be no return of the nasties. :)

I wouldn't open it, if its tasting good, drink it.
just wondering, you said you can't chill your keg(s)... you drinking them at room temp?
You could also get some growlers or larger bottles and bottle some right from the keg and chill a smaller amount. Just thinking what I would do other than build another keezer.

Yeah I drink it at room temperature. I'm british so our beer tends to be that way anyway, lol.
I do have a few beer bottles so I could do what you suggested in terms of chilling some bottles in the fridge.
