I saw this on Fox8 news this morning. 89 ain't bad. I remember him best for "the thrill is gone" & his version of "hoochie coochie man".
 
Never was a fan of his kind of blues. I'll be honest, I thought his playing was repetitive and uninteresting. It's the kind of blues that makes you think about the song, not the music.

He was a huge influence on a lot of later guitar players, though. Many of those became inspirations for later guitar players themselves.
 
A great musician, and a great man. I'll never forget seeing him rock the stage about 13 years ago, well into his 70's by then.

Had the pleasure of seeing him with Buddy Guy and Susan Tedeschi back in 2001.
