For those of you who didn't already hear, the 2014 Ninkasi winner is AZ_IPA.

We were honored to sample some of his great mead and IPAs, including the gold medal winner Habanero IPA on Friday night and knew they were great.

This award is essentially THE homebrew award. To be nationally recognized and to win over all of the other entries in the national homebrew conference is a significant achievement and we are so happy for you!

Congrats AZ_IPA! Holy cow, that's great.

Now that he's in that rarefied air with Jamil and Gordon, I hope he won't abandon us plebeians here at HBT.

No, he's still claiming to be "one of us", I think!

Look at who's been in the presence of greatness (taken on Thursday):

Ahh I see, it sounded like it was a gold medal for the ipa category, but it was really for a fruit beer.

Sadly, I don't recognize your bookends there. I don't get out much.

On the left is SoperBrew, and on the right is the 2014 Ninkasi winner, AZ_IPA. I think in most pictures he's holding a fish, but in this case I got a photo op without a fish in the picture. But I'm pretty sure there are a few beers involved.

That's really awesome! I was actually surprised that the couple that had two medals didn't win (the Reuters), but I guess their entries were with each other as the head brewer. Close one, but it's nice to see some real competition.

That's the first time I've watched the awards, but jeez, Gary Glass needs to work on his reading out loud, lol. It's a good thing he's not a baseball announcer. I'm also really shocked the Brewing Network won club of the year again. I don't pay much attention to it, but it took a while before they had a winner, and they only had two medalists. I thought some other club would win this year, but I guess they must've had a big lead from the first round. Justin seemed kind of embarrassed to have to win again.

Nice! I am kind of disappointed in not trying that Habanero beer now. :(

That bus tour had more than a couple of people with beers who placed in the NCH competition. It's quite an achievement and something to be very proud of!

You guys should put together a recipe section for the award winners, not just 1st place, from HBT. I think that would draw a lot of interest from people.

Good idea! I think this recipe is in the database, but he may have changed it since first posting it.

It was really a nice beer. I enjoyed it alot, and I enjoyed his meads and melomel as well.

Homer, I thought you were with us when he hid his beer in a trashcan, and then when back to retrieve it and we were in an empty booth? Then other people were approaching us with, "What do you have?" and AZ was like "Nothing! Nothing here to see, move along". :D

AZ's table of one. One guy, one beer, one sample.
