AWD on the beach ? VSA ? TRAC LOC ?

i know, i know, i know. bad idea. the thing is that i have experience driving in deep sand and have seen many AWD SUV doing ok in the sand. not to mention a rental costs 1000.00 ! i could get pulled out 4 or 5 times easily for that price if i get stuck !

has anyone out there driven an SUV with AWD in deep sand (12in ruts) that has VSA AND TRAC-LOC on the beach ???

Depending on where you are going and what you are driving I would suggest letting air out of the tires for a better foot print. AWD would be good to have if it is truly AWD. My 4Runner had lockers front and rear and the difference of having all 4 turning over 2 is amazing.
