A few weeks ago, I went to Dogfish Head's Rehoboth Brewpub and tried "Romantic Aromatic", a brewpub exclusive Double IPA that was both highly aromatic and malty, with pleasantly assertive earthy and flowery hop aroma's (a result of dry hopping using whole hops). I decided to try to make my own hybrid of this using Dogfish Head's 60 Minute IPA as a loose base recipe (thus technically making mine an American, not Double, IPA). I added 1lb. of Aromatic Malt to the Five Gallon batch (I brew All Grain), continuously hopped during the boil as suggested on the 60 Minute Clone recipe (using Warrior, Cascade, and Simcoe), pitched with California Ale Yeast 001, and plan on dry hopping with a combination of whole Simcoe, Cascade, Chinook, and Glacier hops (I may add Amarillo pellets as well, as I love the aroma these in part on IPA's). I'm two days into my fermentation and the aroma is GREAT. I'm confident the aromatic and amber malts, combined with my variation of the 60 minute hops, should provide a great base. I hit my target gravity of 1.070, but wish I made the target gravity a little higher, as I want a very substantive malt base. Nevertheless, I'm confident I have the beginnings of a great beer...

I'm looking for suggestions for hop proportions to use when dry hopping with whole leaf pellets. I'm making a 5 gallon batch, and plan on using Simco, Cascade, Chinook, and Glacier whole hops (possibly Amarillo pellets too). I'm going for citrus, flowery, and earthy in my aroma, and want to use hop varieties and quantities that accentuate, but don't overpower, the malty and aromatic malts. I've based my tentative quantities of previous usage with said hops in pellet form, online hop guides and (most of all) my intuition. I was tentatively thinking of dry hopping with the following. Let me know your thoughts and/or suggestions.

Simco - .3 ounces
Cascade - .7 ounces
Chinook - .5 ounces
Glacier - .5 ounces
Amarillo - .3 ounces

Brew on, Brew-Miester's!!!!!

i'd replace the cascade with centennial or citra. centennial is much more citrusy, hence why it is referred to as super cascade. citra is one of, if not the strongest for a citrusy flavor

I've used Citra before and I thought it was a bit over-powering for what I was going for. Centennial might be a good option, though.

Centennial is awesome but VERY strong as a dry hop. I love it!

I love aromatic IPAs, so I would probably go .75oz on everything but the Centennial (use .5 for the Centennial).

Having said that, I'd probably wing it a bit when you're about to make your additions. Smell them before dropping them in and try to get a feel for a good balance. I know, kinda vague...

**Edit** Just noticed you have Glacier in there... I've never used Glacier, so I can't speak to that one directly...
