I accidentally added 1 cup of priming sugar (corn sugar) to my 5 gallon batch!

At 70 deg F, I think this comes out to about 3.5 volumes CO2.

The bottles have about 3-4cm of head space.

Do you think the bottles will explode? If so, is there anything I can do?

Thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome to the forum.

It's a good practice to keep your conditioning bottles somewhere safe and easy to clean in case they do explode. I recommend something like a plastic storage container where shattered glass and liquid can be confined. Another thing you can do is keep all the bottles refrigerated after they are carbonated. Good luck.

+1 on the plastic storage container. I have a few with locking handles just in case. Better safe than sorry.

That seems like a good idea. Maybe I will invest. For the time being, the beer is sitting in the bath tub.
