Just wondering as im brand new to home brewing but does any one know if there are any apps to help you calculate yeast pitching and other things depending on the size of your batch?

I'm looking for something similar - an Android app that can reliably perform all of the major calculations for a typical brewday - strike water volume and temp, attenuation and ABV, pitch rate, etc. I have HomeBrew Calculator from the Play store, which had the benefit of being free, but I don't know if it's reliable, and either way it has no metric or plato options that I can find, meaning I have to convert most of the calculations anyway.

I'll probably end up ponying up for Beersmith Mobile even though I don't like the principle of paying for the same software twice. Still, I'd prefer a calculator that does nothing but calculate - that way I won't have to dig through menus every time I want to calculate something. I just want to open up the calculator app, choose the calculation, input my numbers, and I'm off to the races.

Assuming you aren't talking mobile, there's a few big ones out there.

Brewer's Friend (below) is my personal preference, if only because it gives a little more freedom in how you enter the numbers.

Mr Malty is a popular one, but I'm not a fan of the interface, I've heard that it is also often errs too much on the side of caution.

Homebrew Dad is a new one gaining popularity, and much like Brewer's Friend it's pretty agile. The calculator is particularly helpful if you need to do a multi-step starter.

For the mobile space, I'm not really familiar with the available yeast calculators, so I can't really help much there.

+1 brew pal.

While Beersmith on my desktop is my go-to, I use BrewBot for a lot of initial quick and dirty recipe design. It has a quite a few calculators, tools, and references built in that can be handy on brew day and beyond. I don't know if there is an Android version of it.
