so i opened up my keezer the other say because i noticed the apfelwein was not coming out of the tap. i found out why.

there is a leak somewhere between the liquid out of the keg and the back of the tap. so i have 5 gallons of apfelwein in the botton of my keezer

the worst part is i only got one glass as a test, and then i put in the keezer to finish carbing and get cold.

Bummer. I pays to check back on new connections every time to change something.

Now you need a ShamWow for that.

well...that cleanup sucked. i found the leak though. and now i have all of my taps hooked up to empty kegs. i sprayed everything with with leak check. i am also going to leave it like this till tomorrow. so if there is a leak that the bubbles dont find, i will know tomorrow with a pressure drop on the regs.

if i want to make my next batch of apfelwein bigger should i add more dextrose, or add something different like honey?

Couldn't you use a straw for clean up?:drunk:

+1! I was going to say have any spare lines around? But he already cleaned it... I would definitely spray some bleach solution in there to clean it, unplug it and let it dry properly (or just dry thoroughly if you still have other active kegs). Don't want smelly bacteria keezer.

Again, I feel your loss... Poor beer, never had a chance. D@MN IT! I WAS GOING TO DRINK THAT!

I've made it with up to 3 lbs. of dextrose but friends were cursing me after a party with that batch. They were really happy and raving about at the party though. :cross:

I have not gone past 2 lbs. since and that was over a decade ago.

I feel your pain man...5 gallons of hefe inside my fridge and down my driveway because I didn't use a .10 clamp. I can empathize. ..

i bleached the inside of the keezer. it still smells like apfelwein. i figure the 2 kegs in there are almost done. and i have a couple kegs getting ready, but not quite there yet. i can unplug it, and dry it out well in a few days.

Sounds like a good excuse to drink more! :ban:

Sorry about your loss. The good news is that your second batch should be done soon. I'm assuming you followed Ed's advice, and started a second batch shortly after the first...right?
