I was pleasantly surprised by Yuengling's IPL, and I'm thinking of trying to clone it. Not sure what their grain bill would be, but they do state on their website they're using Bravo, Belma, Cascade and Citra hops. I'm sure they're in that order, Bravo hops are bittering whereas Citras are more for late additions.

At any rate, I don't want to re-invent the wheel if someone has already tried this.

I'm thinking 10-11 lbs 2-row with maybe 1 lb vienna?
.75 Bravo @ 60 Min
.5 Cascade @45
.5 citra @15

.5 citra and .5 cascade dry hopped
Thoughts?

I am finding some conflicting information as to what they use for the grain bill on this. On the yuengling web site it says they use their lager base but i also see where they use the grain bill for their house ale (lord chesterfield)

The above is paraphrased by me based on what i have read briefly.

I dont know what to make of this for the grain bill but you could try it both ways. I would aim for 5% abv and 60 ibu as that is what is listed per their web site.

And then there is technique, if you brew this as a lager at what point do you dry hop? B4 you lager, during d-rest, while lagering, or after? If you lager in the keg i guess you can keg hop but if you lager in the bottle you dont have much choice other than during d rest. Which brings me to the point of, why would you cold age an ipa?

And then the hops, even in a session ipa i use about 8 ozs. Sorry im not much help but i am headed to FL this weekend and will pick up a 6er if i can find it, i hope i can give better feedback if i try one. If i like it i might try to make it as well.

This peaks my interest because i grew up in PA but have lived in IN for most of my adult life. I can get a lager in the bars now and in stores next month.
