Wow, my freezer has too many hops in it right now but how do you pass up this?

I could always use some centennial though. Looks like I will have to plan my next 6 beers and see what I need.

What means this...plan...?

I do have to admit that they are a little lower in AA than other hops that I have been getting, but I really don't care that very much.

I think I am going to try and work up the pipeline so I can age beers that need to be aged even if it is only 2 months. I think I am going to pick up another 4 pack of kegs so I can just ferment, rack, keg and let sit until I am ready to hook it up to the gas.

Right now, I have all 3 taps with beer on them and 2 fermenting which are 2 weeks apart from each other. I don't envision running out of homebrew any day. There may be a time where there is nothing on tap that I am excited about but at least there will be something on tap.

I hear you there. I have four different beers available for my tap right now and two additional kegs waiting. I just put 10 gallons of Pale Ale into kegs today that will be my backup Pale for when the first keg gets floated..

I need to have a party!

I have never bought from them before, but am considering it now! One question though... they list a range of AA% on their hops. When you actually get the hops, do they have a specific AA% on the package? Anyone who orders from them, please fill me in.

Specific AA% on the label of the package.

They are consistently heavy on weights as well. Order 16oz, get anywhere from 16oz to 24 oz.

Once I become familiar enough and can formulate recipes, I need to come up with my house ale and will dedicate a tap to it.

I read earlier that this was on LEAF only, and pellet was almost always dead on. This true? I just ordered 50 pounds of pellet. Should I be expecting 10 extra POUNDS? LOL

What have you made in the past that you enjoy a lot? Take that and put your name on it. I might just have my Sweet Delicious Mowlawner as my house ale as it is really simple and delicious.

I really liked blacklabs orange/cascade pale ale and plan on making it again soon. I am sitting on 22oz of cascades right now. That just may be it until I can create something myself.

Last time I ordered I received something like 20oz of Williamette pellet, 21oz of leaf Vanguard and 18 oz of Galena pellet.

Couldn't pass up on an opportunity to bulk up on American hops to balance all the UK and Belgians that I brew.

1 lb of Amarillo
1 lb of Columbus
1 lb of Nugget

Bring on the IIPA.

Just opened my box of pellets from hopsdirect.com. A pound each of German Magnum, Northern Brewer, Target, and one of Willamette. I don't have a scale in my office, so I don't know how much "bonus" I got, but I can tell you that this is the heaviest "4 pounds" I've ever encountered!

$5.33 to ship to Portland. Adding in shipping and then dividing by 16oz, here's the price breakdown per ounce:
Willamette $0.74/oz
Magnum (GR) $1.24/oz
Target (GR) $1.24/oz
Northern Brewer (GR) $0.99

I dare you to beat that, LHBS!

Lets see.
baling twine stolen out of my fathers baler for a hop trellis - $0
mulch hay used to mulch the hops from the pile of rained on hay - $0
Natural rain fall and ground water for watering - $0
Picked myself with help from family - $0.
Bagged in Foodsaver bags. - a few pennies.

Using your own hops in your own beer - Priceless. :D

I still have too many hops in the freezer. May have to buy some different varieties at some point but I am happy with the Cascades, Centennial, Chinook and Willamette for now.

I grow too, but I cannot grow 15 varieties, nor do I have ANY clue what the AA is, so I have no idea what sort of bittering I am getting.

Growing is free, but it comes at a cost.

I have 11 plants this year. My buddy has another 20 or so. :D

We figure starting next year, we can use the homegrown in almost every batch, as long as we use storebought for bittering.

There are a few I would like to use for bittering, however. I'm just going to make small 2.5 gallon SMaSH batches and use the same amounts of hops, some storebought, the others homegrown, to do some side-by-side comparisons.

Last year I used my fuggle in some hefeweizens and other beers for bittering. I just tried to fall in the range of beer depending on what was in the range of the variety. It actually worked quite well.

Looks like I got about 6 POUNDS extra in the order. Not bad!

Wow, and I just bought a bunch of bulk hops at almost twice the current prices from them and another store within the past couple of months.

Looks like those 200 IBU quadrupel IPAs are becoming feasible again ;)

I'm tentatively going with:
Cascade
Saaz
Willamette
Hallertau
Styrian Goldings
Magnum

I think that covers most styles. Cascade and magnum for US ales, the saaz and styrian for belgians, saaz and Hallertau for other continental styles, the styrian and willamette for uk styles

what's everyone think?

I was very happy with the prices, quantity+ and shipping when I ordered in Jan.
The prices on NW hops at the time seemed high ($28+), so I'm glad I waited.
To supplement my existing 6# stockpile, I'm ordering:
Amarillo
Nugget
EKG
Centennial
Willamette
Magnum

I do wish they had Simcoe as well.
