Visited my local scrap yard looking through their stainless and came across large bins FULL of stainless tubing from the local yogurt plant (probably).

Is there any outlet for that stuff here? They pay more to have large items like that cut down to 3 or 4 foot lengths, so that's the size most of it is (Although there are prebent piping with various triclover flanges on some of the ends.)

They had various sizes of these pieces. I didn't measure, but I'm guessing 1, 2 and 3 inch tubes were the majority.

Since I can get these for a good price per pound, I wondered if anyone can think of a good use for them? They aren't threaded and may not be thick enough to thread, but of course anyone with TIG welding skills can do all sorts of things I suppose.

I also picked up a few tri-clover clamps and the guys scrounged up a few pounds more of them. Most are 3 inch I think, but there may be a couple of smaller sizes.

All those tri-clovers, building a conical is the first thing that comes to mind. You could create a single-tier brew stand with stainless piping in place instead of silicone. It might be hard to adapt that large of pipe to homebrew applications, though. Since Chugger/March pumps have 1/2" inlets and outlets.

It would be hell for stout, for a brewstand structure!
But yes, a TIG would be needed, and a miter saw.
No bending of that thick wall food plant / dairy plant tubing!

I'd have to go back out and really scrounge to see what all they have. They also had what looks like a cooking oil filter kettle with a heating element sticking up in the middle from the bottom and a paper element in the bottom set up like an accordion. I didn't have enough $$ on hand for everything, but I think with a little bit of diss-assembly it would make an awesome 15 gallon E-kettle.

They had several stainless fir extinguishers that I've found useful for secondarying big beers. Just fill and place an airlock. They are easy to sterilize in the oven and let in no light.

Just all kinds of junk, really. But several crates full of tubing. If I had the desire, I could TIG this stuff together at work, but my stand is almost ready to assemble already.

They probably got some random pieces of 1/2" stuff, but I wasn't looking for that.

Did they have any butterfly/ball valves? The tee, 90, cross, ect fittings are handy for those building out a TC based system as well as the clamps. I've built a pair of rims tubes with a short section of TC pipe and some silver solder. The sizing is based on the outside diameter of the tube and the id should be about 1/16" to 1/8" smaller. 1/2" & 3/4" have the same flange size as do 1" and 1.5" tube sizes, making them interchangeable with each other when fitting things up. 2, 3,4, ect all have their own flange size. Get some picts and post them up if you're willing to pick stuff up for others. I'd be interested in 1.5" & 2" butterfly valves if you can get them for decent prices.
