I kegged an American Pale Ale about a week ago and now I've decided to dry hop for 4 or 5 days. I dropped a muslin bag with hops and marbles in the keg attached to a fishing line. Of course it leaks. Any tips on how to stop the leak or a better way to dry hop?

I like to wedge the muslin bag between the wall of the keg and the dip tube. This allows the hops to soak for a few weeks or so until the beer level gets below the bag. You don't want to soak them too long or you'll end up with grassy flavors. Concider how fast you drink the beer, and where it will be in a few weeks...then decide where to wedge the hop bag.

I put a stainless worm clamp on my dip tube and then attach two herb balls to it.

I used to hang my hop bag down with floss as well but it was leaking CO2 half the time or just wasn't plain secure (I dropped bag once and had to fish it out) so I made some mods to my kegs. Using steel epoxy I glued coat hanger to the lid and hook my hop bag this way, works great! Now I just leave my hops untill keg is kicked :)

Stainless teaball and waxed dental floss. Pull the floss under the o-ring, no leaks.

I don't understand why dry hopping doesn't compromise the beer. Is there no contamination at that point because the alcohol level is high enough?

I like this idea. I'll have to set up for that in the future

I would suggest you continue to use the fishing line and attach a bobber. Of course, you need to be very sanitary with this method.

Easy and quick to fish out, and will stay afloat in the beer until the end (If you want it).

The problem with hanging it from the top is that if your beer drains too fast, you're no longer dry hopping.

I use nylon stockings, i get them 2 for $.53 at Walgreens. I tie a knot a little bit above the hops then tie it around the diptube. Has been working great with no flavor or sanitation issues so far.

Am I the only person who just chucks the hop bag right into the keg? No tieing, fishing line, marbles, hooks, etc?

I use 7x tippet mono and thread it up through the lid. It doesn't seal completely, but it never has mattered. I tied it to large 3" SS tea balls with hop pellets. I pull it out after 1 week and into my keezer pressurized with CO2. It's worked great.
