I searched the forum and couldn’t find much about this pump. I need a pump to get hot wort through my plate chiller. Would this new anvil pump be something I could use for that? The 3gpm limit is what is making me think it may not be and may be better for recircing etc. Any advice would be awesome!

That would work great for transferring / cooling wort. Recirculation would work, but depending on your kettle size may or may not be the "best choice". For the price though it may be worth trying... another popular / inexpensive pump to try are the "solar" pumps. They operate of 12V DC and are rated at 2.1GPM, but at 20 bucks are tempting as well. I have one and used it for RIMS recirculation and it worked well.

I don’t really need a pump for recirculating just for chilling through the plate chiller. I have a 20 gallon kettle and do 10 gallon brew in a bag batches.

How did you search??
https://www.homebrewtalk.com/forum/search/1248689/?q=anvil+pump&o=relevance&c[node]=11 just type "anvil pump" into the white search box up in the right corner ... lots of direct info. these are basically the same pumps that are in the grainfather and the same pumps as the mk2 only with a smaller motor which is slightly less powerful.

I use a pump like this for my plate chiller... actually I have many of them plumber into my system. food grade and more than powerful enough.

I use the 24v version of these pumps now as they are more powerful and pump over 3 gpm vs 2.1 on the 12v but for chilling you dont need the faster flow. I keep my rims flow down below 2gpm (also use pwm) with this pump and get 90% avg efficiency and no need to use rice hulls with lower flow speed.
