I just received a brewing order from Ritebrew. It had sat on the porch for a few hours before I found it. There were ants all over it - I thought a package inside probably broke and exposed the contents to ants or whatever. The shipping box was slightly damaged - a small hole in one corner. When I checked everything, I found there were no broken or leaking containers inside. The only thing that was off was some crushed grain in a ziplock bag. It wasn’t torn or leaking, and the ziplock was completely sealed, but I could smell the grain through the bag - a fairly strong odor. From the feel of the bag, I think it was a storage bag - not a freezer bag. I’m wondering if the grains should be shipped in freezer bags instead - that should greatly reduce any odor. Any thoughts or similar experiences?

i cant keep ants out of my 'breaking bad' room either . every time i walk into my brewery supply room it reminds me of the lab under the laundromat in breaking bad. its in the basement , its full of coils tubes pots glass beakers and refrigeration units. and i am usually sneaking into there unbeknownst to the wife.

in any case those ants (i think they call them sugar or cement ants) could find a fart in a windstorm.

a few squirts of hot shot ant gel usually takes care of them in a few days.
