I don't know why I didn't see this forum earlier, I blame the ...*spins the wheel* ... robot overlord (?), yeah.
Anyways, my name is David and I've been brewing for just around a year now. Currently on batch number six. I had about 5 months between last batches since we bought a house and was busy working on it. No way I could of kept things clean enough. Its hard enough with a corgi and 3 cats.
I got interested in brewing around 10 - 12 years ago after I made a few friends and found they brewed. I was not able to take it up until recently for various reasons, financial, living arrangements, or to many things going on. I'm just full of excuses, aren't I!
Now that I have, I kick myself in the butt.
My first batch I did sealed my fate. And I've been chasing the dragon since.
It was a simple Coopers wheat kit with an amber malt addition. This turned out amazing, even my friends thought it was amazing and was gone rather quickly. But the newbie mistake of not taking detailed notes has caused me not to be able to replicate it exactly.
I've moved from LME's to DME's w/ grains and will be taking a class next week for all grain. I don't want to do just traditional beers, I like to mix things up, as was the case with my first batch.
I currently have an American Cream, that I added Special B to the boil, conditioning and is ready to drink. I think it turned out rather well. I have given a few bottles out to some folks that brew to test out for me, just waiting on their comments.
And an American Wheat in primary. This has a pound of honey added to it and will be transferred to a secondary with garden picked strawberries when its done bubbling.
Other than that, I look forward to many years of enjoyment and trying some of the recipes I've seen on here!
