Another newbie question

I'm planning on starting my first home brewing experiment on Friday. Going to make 5 different 1 gal. batches of cider. I will set them up and get everything going on friday night.

My question is, how much supervision will they need for the first two days. I'm supposed to leave town on Saturday afternoon, and come home Sunday evening. Should I be concerned about airlocks plugging or anything like that?

Use blowoff tubes. Just run vinyl tubing from your airlock or stopper into a jar of star-san. If you need more visuals, search the forums.

Best of luckwith your ciders! The necessity of blowoff tubes depends on your volume and the size of your fermenters. I usually use blowoff tubes for primary and only use airlocks for secondary fermentation. An added advantage to using tubes is that you don't have to worry about the airlock solution evaporating so quickly.
