Another keg cutting abomination

So I got a nice shiny keg from some friends that are involved with a beverage distributor, my mash tun cracked and I need to make a new one. Stainless steel it is.

I looked around and saw some stuff people had posted and thought that I could build something to do the job in a few minutes.

This is the result:

Cutting took about 4 minutes - I had to change discs at about half way

and here is the final product, The hole lost its perfection because instead of tracing around first I just cut - I don't really mind the imperfection and none of the edges will sever an artery if I make a mistake and run my arm around the rim

I hope to make the top into a false bottom and have it up and working within the week, the end goal being that this be part of an all electric HERMS

clean up that edge with a file and/or sand paper so you never have to worry about a sharp edge. nice job. I might do the same with one of my tops. keep us posted on how things go.

Also, cut stainless steel needs a while to re-oxidize, or it can begin to rust out on you, so read up on that. I don't know how long of a time frame we're talking about. Perhaps a week.

I took both a rough and fine flapper disc to the edges, its safe. I cut my other keggle in a similar but not as accurate way and have never seen any kind of rust
