Yep-Another brewer coming on board from N.E.Pa.--Poconos to be exact.
I've been lurking around for a few days now and have decided to sign in.
I've been producing a few varieties of homemade wines and hard ciders now for a few years(dandelion, strawberry and plum) and have been getting pretty good at that.I drink more beer than wine:mug: and wifey asked why don't I brew my own beer-Shazam--that's all it took-I'm in the process of acquiring all the necessary beer related items-heck I'm even designating an entire corner of the basement to beer and wine making(new counter top,new cabinets even a gas burner). I'm in the process of assembling my own wort chiller.
Well enough rambling for the moment-back downstairs-there's work to be done !

Great to be here-Ive already picked up a few things and look forward to learning more. Shane

Good to see you. I have some good memories of Grossinger's. My high school had there graduation night there.

Hello SAS98M,

Where do you get your brewing suppies? I live near Harveys Lake and have been getting mine in Wilkes-Barre at Beer Solutions on S Main Street.

Zoe - I'm in Cresco-about 40 mins.S.E of Wilkesbarre.
Dirty- How are the prices there ? comparable to the online stores ?
Ryser- Pa's the place for beer baby....

....

The prices aren't bad when you factor in shipping costs and he has a fairly good selection. I like being able to get what I need when I need it plus get tips and advice at the same time.

I am in Lakeville. I am also new here and to the hobby. Glad to see so many NEPA people here. I have been getting alot of brewing supplies over the net, but just recently discovered Taylors Hobby Supply in Clarks Summit. They have good equipment and a decent wine selection. Not too much except for BB Beer Kits, and Trew Brew Kits, but they do have some beer stuff as well.

PA is definitely one beer loving state. Now, if only the PLCB would see it that way.

Hey you know what is odd, I was in one part of PA recently and a Grocery Store had a sign for beer? I was like "HUH?". It was in the Tannersville area I think, somewhere in that neck of the woods anyhow.

I am not sure of his hours, I know they are definitely open Saturdays....give them a call; 570-825-5509 (Beer Solutions)

They probably serve food, I believe that is one of the stipulations....Of course I never thought I would see the "State Stores" open on Sundays, but my local store is now.

They supposedly also have some state stores co-located at grocery stores. Haven't seen one yet, though.

I'm from Northeast Baltimore (White Marsh, Essex, Dundalk).

Been all over PA though, from State College, to Harrisburg, to Slippery Rock, to Wilkes-Barre. Good to see a homebrew store downtown Wilkes-Barre now! Wish that place was there 4-5 years ago when I was a local.

I believe that Taylors is open 9-5 M-F. They are open at 10 on Saturdays and Im not sure what time they close. 587-0081. Not a bad place. A bit more focused on wine though.

zoebisch-They've got a few grocery stores here now that sell beer-only by the sixer though-two sixes per trip limit(bring another person:mug: or two trips to the car) same as Pa.bars-it came here when the plcb allowed Sunday sales of wine :rockin: . They've got some top name beers also. The T.ville store was Mr Z's-I live about 15 mins. away. Shane

I'm originally (26 years) from PA. Can I come to the group brew? I'm only down in Maryland. :)
Jezter, how's your brewing going? I saw your efficiency with your first batch and it looked great. I'm trying to "re-do" my brewery setup now. I would be ashamed to show it compared to most of the folks here. I'm more of a MacGyver setup than a Tim Allen setup.

OK, with all of the brewers here in PA, we need to plan a get together. So far, it looks like Poconos area, Lancaster/State College and I believe I saw a couple from Philly area. Jezter is in MD and there are a few from NJ.

I'll put a post up to get all locations and we can plan on someplace in the middle of all of us for a day out to trade brews and plan a brewfest.

Right On!! I am new here and was hopeing there were fellow N.E. PA people here. I'm in Milford/Dingmans Ferry. drove to Keystone in Bethlehem once it's an OK shop. but with gas $. It'll be awhile before I make the 3 Hour trip. anyone else this far north?

Welcome and as you see quite a few of us Pa brewers here. I'll actually be up your way on memorial day weekend, going camping at Rickets Glen. It'll be my first time there but I've been told it has quite a few waterfalls with one over 100 ft tall.
