It have been 6 days since I started my first batch of blond honey ale
as i am checking on it a couple fruit flys jumped in.
I directly racked it into my secondary leaving behind a little bit from the top that had the fruit flies.
the hydrometer was 1.008 (originally 1.040)

now the classic question: is my batch ruined?
and the wort did not fill all the secondary fermenter maybe around 5% is still empty. do I top up with water?:tank:

Don't top it off with water, it's better to have a small amount of good beer then dilluted beer...and since your beer is fermented it is alcohol...so the fuitflies, besides dying very happily of alcohol poising are now quite sterile...

I wouldn't have racked it if it wasn't time merely because you got bugs in it...you could have sanitized a strainer and scooped them up...

in other words, people have put their body parts in beer and it was fine...beer is pretty resiliant despite what your first batch nervousness leads you to think.

all will be well. :mug:

I would have added them to the secondary and then bottled them.

Protien ;)

It's like tequila with the worm, only you've got fruit flys.
