Living in Japan for 13 years, as much as I enjoy the quality of the beers available in Japan, I just don't want to go on paying $7 a glass at restaurants and $40 a case of commercial lager. Not only that, I'm very fond of ales and beers with a little color and bite to them, which is why I decided to give home brewing a try and getting good ales in Japan usually means importing at $3.00 a 330 ml bottle.
Baby steps are needed here so this weekend I'm expecting my first starter kit from Coopers. I've seen videos with instructions already and it looks fairly straight forward so that will be my very first step, in what I hope will develop into a life long hobby where one day I can actually try "recipes" that will give me a little control over the results.
Looking over the forums here, I see there is an abundance of knowledgeable individuals willing to share ideas and advice. I look forward to using the search function here to find answers to my n00b q's.
