Purchased a 2oz variety pack of American juicy hops, and NZ juicy hops. 4 varieties in each pack making for a total of 8 oz in each pack, which comes out to 16 oz all together.
Had plans to do one beer American and one beer New Zealand. Both ipas. No I’m considering combining all hops to do a NEipa.
American pack includes:
Citra, mosaic, el dorado, Idaho 7
NZ pack includes
Waimea, rakau, kohatu, Motueka
Anybody have any idea how these would play together? Or would I have more success leaving them to make separate beers?
I googled a little but didn’t find anything right off the bat about putting these together.
Thanks all for the thoughts

If you’ve never used NZ hops I’d suggest using them on their own to begin with. They’re so unique and worth tasting by themselves. Unfortunately the can also be much more variable in their quality than the big American hops.

I personally find Motueka better utilized in the whirlpool, probably same for Kohatu. Then dry hop with the Waimea and Rakau which are your higher oil content versions of the bunch. Waimea is the most like a US hop to me as it has some distinct pine.

Thank you guys for the responses. I had that feeling, but being a cheap skate I thought just trying to merge them together for a hazy ipa. Instead I decided to up the citra mosaic and el dorado. Planing to do a hazy ipa with 4oz citra, 4 oz mosaic, 4oz el dorado, and try to slip the 2oz of Idaho 7 in there between dry hop and whirlpool additions.
I’ll make plans to do a NZ ipa with the NZ hops at a later date.

use the Idaho 7 hotside. May possibly the best hotside hop out there

I just did an Idaho 7 and Idaho gem wcipa, waiting to see how it turns out. I have heard tons of good things about them.
Did you get the dual pack from YVH? @marchuk96 just did a NEIPA using it a 1:1 ratio of those same hops and its was candied dankness for days. Really really good and full flavored. If you remember let me know how the WC turns out.

Bingo. It was the YVH dual pack, I figured I would give them a go after reading some good reviews similar to yours. I will keep you posted on my results.
