Am I losing yeast during blow off? There is a 1/4" layer in the bottom of my blow off bucket. My carboys are full but only to the start of the bottom of the neck.

Your carboys should be nowhere near full. You need headspace to allow the krausen (the foam that forms during ferment) some space. Otherwise it just spews out the top.

This is an example.

5.5 gallons in 6 gallon carboy.

That is what it looked like this morning. Now it is blowing out the top. 70 degrees in the ferment room.

Get the wort temps down and it shouldn't be so "violent" of a fermentation.

70 degrees ambient begs the question, how warm is the beer. Fermentation produces heat, excessive heat is not desirable for a variety of reasons, avoiding a mess and avoiding undesirable flavors being two.
