I stopped buying the little packets of "Priming sugar" and just started buying corn sugar in bulk. I've been measuring out 2/3 cup and dissolving it in boiling water and putting it in the bottling bucket and racking into the bucket. Since I started doing the "bulk" sugar it seems like I havn't had good carbonation. Is this sugar the same? Am i doing something wrong?? Thanks

That sugar is the same, but the packets are probably measured by weight, not by volume. How long are you letting things carb up? Are the bottles relatively warm while bottle carbing? You could try adding a little more sugar to get a little more carbonation. Maybe bump it up to 3/4 cup, depending on the style.

according to john palmer (wrote books on homebrewing), 3/4 cup of corn sugar weighs about 4 oz. increase corn sugar to 3/4 or so
