Listing removed (not sure how to delete here). Selling piecemeal on Facebook Marketplace (based on forum suggestions to break up).

Terry

So I need to quit Home Brewing (effectively need to give up drinking beer). I wanted to sell my complete setup for what I consider very reasonable costs that could help someone getting into brewing all the way thru making some outstanding home brews. I have between $2,600-$2,900 invested I would guess and have maintained all the equipment quite well. It does not seem there is a large home brewing community in Connecticut and I have received no interest at all from Facebook postings. Interesting as well I have 1 pound of sealed Nectaron (my fav dry hop BTW) and 1/2 pound of sealed Amarillo hops posted for FREE and also no interest. I've posted the following for $900 but would realistically take $800. I don't really want to just give this away for nothing, but at the same time it is doing me no good just sitting around. Would really appreciate any feedback; am I being unrealistic in expecting that this lot of equipment is worth every penny and provide a turnkey setup to anyone wanting to brew (from a basic first brew thru making truly outstanding beers).

Any feedback appreciated - the test of the posting is below - I did not include pictures that are on my FB posting . but sure those here understand what is included and the cost to build the inventory.

Thanks.

Terry

That's a rough go of needing to stop altogether, sorry to hear that. Pictures always help the sale of any equipment I think. If you haven't posted on here yet, I'd suggest you do so. I'm sure you'll be able to part with at least some of your stuff after doing so.

While your low price may be alluring, when you there is a "complete setup" listing, moderately experienced brewers are going to have some or many of the items you are selling. So they will balance the setup against having duplicates and dealing with those. A "complete setup" without a lot of higher quality/value items in it won't be as appealing to many buyers. As an example, a three vessel system where the pots are low quality. I put "complete setup" in quotes because I have seen bare bones and incomplete setups advertised that way. To be clear, this is more of a general observation. I am not at all judging your equipment or nomenclature.

A BIAB setup is competing with the all-in-one (AIO) offerings. I don't really know what is a common entry point for brewers these days, whether extract or some form of all grain. People want what they don't have, possibly scaling up or changing procedures, or they want something better than what they have already.

If you broke the items into two or three groups, hotside vs coldside, or brewing, fermenting, and serving it might capture a buyer's interest as they may already have a solid setup in one of those group areas.

Also, perhaps be a little more specific, "This is a BIAB system setup for X batch size, includes a hoist, yada yada yada."

I could be wrong, but I think this is the unrealistic part. You're limiting yourself to a small geographic area because shipping would be out of the question. How many people do you think there are who would want the whole shooting match and are within an easy drive of you?

I can only comment on the items that I have.
Inkbird temp controller @70? I paid less than $30 on one of those Amazon sales that happen fairly regular.
Tilt @135? That is basically retail price, even if new I wouldn't pay when I could get it from Tilt. Some have posted theirs for ~$70
I have a 20lb CO2 tank from Airgas. I didn't buy it, but it only costs $70...I don't know what the refill costs since it was the only time I have done anything with CO2.

Exactly. I would try listing the kegerator, small CO2 tank and regulator separately for something in the $150-$200 range. And the kegs at maybe $40 each with a discount if someone wanted all of them.

I bet there are a lot of members who'd be happy to pay the shipping for free unopened hops. Unfortunately my freezer is full.
