I quit going for my daily walk back in 2019 after being attacked by a pitbull. Even though it would do me good I hesitate starting again so I'm going with this instead.

That bolt in the cross section better be some serious hardware to support a grown man pedaling. I would approach it with caution. BTW, don't forget about the sun you won't be getting exercising indoors. Make sure you get some sun, it does wonders for your health, Vitamim D, etc. Of course too much can also be a problem. Good luck!

I was looking at the whole construction of that thing while writing this:

I'd say the dangers of that stationary "bike" outcompete those of a daily walk, even with the odds of getting attacked by a pitbull or other (ferocious) animal.

Agree on safety, but high end equipment can outprice a good brew kettle. My father-in-law stopped walking his dog for the same reason. His dog got attacked twice while walking on his block in the NJ suburbs. Crazy! He has started walking solo since his dog passed and hasn't had any issues.

Think yourself lucky mate, I was once attacked by a capybara when I was out walking. To be fair it didn't exactly savage me, but it was quite a traumatic experience. I still suffer from flashbacks to this day!

The Spousal Unit and I usually do 4 to 5 miles each day, living between two huge wildlife reservations with an extensive trail system. While we often come across dogs they're almost always properly on leash. The one time an unleashed dog tried rushing me from behind I knew it was coming and teed it up with a shod foot.

Sad doggie, highly embarrassed doggie owner who appeared on camera in an image sent to the local gendarmes and a special appearance in the police blotter. Haven't seen that guy again...

Cheers!

Really? I've never seen a kiddie exercise bicycle and this is one solid unit.
I get all the sun I need keeping the lawn mowed. And I take vitamin d supplement for a medical issue that I deal with.

Dangers?

No worries, I was just pointing out that the center bolt will be handling much of the load. Not trying to discourage you at all. I hope it serves you well.

Treadmills are good too if you have enough room for one. I've seen them on Craigslist cheap or even free. I think people buy them and get tired of using them to hang their clothes, so they post them cheap to get them out of their way.

being attacked by a pitbull
I had two pit bulls come at me at once. The owner was there, got them under control quickly. They did put a few holes in my running jacket/windbreaker.
Another time, a very large one charged me, full speed. I crouched ready to give gouging out its eyes a try. It didn't look for me at that moment. Then, as it was almost upon me, it went "BOING" up in the air. The bastard was on a chain that I couldn't see and could only come to the edge of the grass. I did stop jogging down neighborhood streets. I do have more pit bull stories. But this is over a period of almost 40 years.
I never gave up exercising outside but I did change routes drastically.

I think any exercise is great versus none. If we're talking about stationary equipment, I especially like stair climbers. Bikes and treadmills are cool though.

I'm so sorry ya got attacked by a pitbull.

I can't imagine staying inside because some folks can't control their dog.

Every dog I've had in my life has been relaxed and calm and friendly... because they trusted me to protect them. When my Boston Terrier was alive we would hike for hours around here in big cat country, but I was carrying a .44 mag. I wasn't gonna let a mountain lion grab her and run off with her. If I lived in an urban area with a pitbull problem I'd do similar.
