almost too cold to brew

Well I had trouble getting my mash temp set, had to heat my mash water back up before adding the grain because it was 17 degrees outside. Once I got the mash set up I had to deal with the ice that formed from me spilling water. Oh and one of the propane bottles freezing up.
I have been thinking about converting to all electric but the up front cost keeps me from it. In the end it doesn't matter just as long as I enjoy the process. Be nice to be warm while brewing but 5 gallons of Yooper's Fat squirrel brown is worth it. Anyone else have fun in the cold.

My hoses are frozen so no brewing for me today. This happened last year too, but I didn't learn to drain the damn hose last week.

My mash temp worked out perfect today but when doing my vorlauf the temp dropped noticeably and during the sparge I had a hard time hitting temp.

Frustrating to brew when it is this cold, even indoors.

Was originally thinking of brewing this weekend, but with the highs not expected to crack zero, I decided to pass and pushed it back to next weekend. I'd be happy for 20F then. No hose water for the IC now, so back to hauling hot brew kettles inside to the laundry room spigot. Until next spring.

It's -23 Celsius up here in Calgary! No problems yet, I mash and vorlauf indoors before moving the boil kettle to the garage for the boil. Just chilling it right now!
