firstly this recipe is based off of Brandon O's recipe which i made last year. at the time i thought it was too tart but went ahead and drank all but a couple of bottles which i just opened and my girlfriend and i decided it was the best cider either of us had ever had, commercial or otherwise. Having switched to all grain for my beer brewing since my last attempt i decided to try it again without using the DME

this is what i came up with

Recipe Type: All Grain
Yeast: Nottingham
Batch Size (Gallons): 5.5
Original Gravity: 1.06
Final Gravity:
Boiling Time (Minutes): 30
Primary Fermentation (# of Days & Temp): 14-17 @ 65f
Expected mash efficiency: 60%
Mash temperature: 158

Grain:
5# 2-row
1# C-60
.5# Honey malt

Hops:
.33 oz Belma 30 Min. (11.6% AA; leaf)

Other:
4 gallons Tree Top apple juice from concentrate

Comments:
Mash will be no-sparge @ 2qt/lb grain

I plan on brewing this next week sometime and any comments/suggestions would be appreciated before then, othewise i will post up results when it happens.

I did something similar...
4 lbs 2-row
1 lb c-60
2 oz flaked wheat
I mashed in 2 gal of water then boiled to reach 1.5 gallons adding .5 oz Perle for the last 30 mins.
poured wort into fermenter & topped off with 4 gallons Apple juice.
i didn't check my og, but fg was 1.003.
it's still a bit tart for my taste but waaaay better than the dry ciders I've made.
it's bulk aging now & I plan to sweeten it up with some apple juice concentrate when I keg.
