I tried their Canadian Ale, Amber Ale, and spiced wheat. Seems like they are just extract only without the speciality grains. I always added the 1% ABV boost.

I made a lot of wheats last year and brought a six pack to my GFs dad of about every batch. Some kits were an attempted clone of a Hoegaarden and AHBS on Sunshine wheat kit. Out of those wheats he thought the value line Spiced Wheat was the best.

Another interesting story on that batch. I brewed it the Saturday before Hurricane Katrina. Katrina hit and welost power for 5 days. It was high 80s to low 90s in my house the whole time. I ended up transferring and it gotten pretty banana and clove like. I dumped an ounce of Hersbrucker in the secondary and let it sit. turned out good for me but I drank it too soon. My gf's dad kept the six pack for about 3 months and thought highly of the beer. Goes to show sometimes you might not want to pitch a batch. BTW we called that one Katrina Wheat.

god i friggin hate hoegaarden.. :cross:

but thats awesome about your brews.. and the fact they and you survived katrina!

anyone try their holiday ale value line?
what do you do w/o the grains??

Yah my taste has changed and I think Hoegaarden is a little overrated. We don't get much beer variety in MS because of a cap of 6% on beer.

As far as beer without grains.. you just bring the water to a boil and then add your extract.
