I just made some mead, it has a sweet taste, but is only 4 months old. I'd like to try aging it in an OAK barrel. Has anyone done this, how were the results, how long did you age in in the barrel, is there anything that you would change?

I also plan to age my mead in 5 L. mini Oak barrel(American Oak heavy chared) but my mead is dry.
I think 1-2 month should be OK as I was tried to age spirit in it, 1 month later the spirit became to Oak color and Oak smell. It can be over oaked if longer.

Depends on the barrel, really.

What kind of oak? American(or Canadian) or is it european?

What kind of toast do you have on it?
